Cover Description: The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed. In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampyre -- that is, if she makes it through the Change. Not all of those who are chosen do. It's tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling. She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx. But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny -- with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

My Review/Thoughts: As mentioned in the description, Marked is the first novel in the House of Night Series by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast. The authors chose to spell vampire differently than everyone else, which makes this series unique. The traditional I has been replaced with a Y, creating vampyre. Another feature that makes this series unique is that vampyres have existed always. This book also goes against most of the myths about vampires also. The series is told from the main character’s, Zoey Redbird, point of view. Throughout the 306 pages of Marked, you experience everything Zoey does. Together you get marked and become familiar with the vampyre “culture.” You also learn that you are no ordinary fledgling as you gain knowledge of your special talents and use them to protect those you love.

After reading the Twilight Saga, I found myself going what do I do now? So, I began rereading the saga, and on every trip I made to Wal-Mart I found myself walking through the book isle. Every time I walked though the book isle the House of Night Series would grab my attention. It was just something about the covers. After about 5 trips though the isle, I picked up Marked and read the description. Then I decided to do my research online and watch some reviews on YouTube. I bought the books shortly after and have been hooked since page 1.
